Symptoms associated with women
Here are some symptoms of diabetes noticed in women:
Vaginal and yeast infections
Vaginal and yeast infections are well known diabetes symptoms in women. They often come with itching, vaginal discharge, soreness, and pains while having sex. For oral yeast infection, it’s caused by the high blood glucose level. Which encourages fungi growth. Yeast infection is mostly characterized with a white coating on the tongue and inside the mouth.
Urinary tract infection risk is notably higher in women with diabetes. This infection is developed from bacteria finding its way into the urinary tract. These infections often come with bloody or cloudy urine, painful urination, and burning sensation while urinating. If these symptoms are not treated urgently, it could lead to kidney infection.
Female sexual dysfunction
A female’s sexual urge could also be affected by diabetes due to the high glucose in the blood which damages nerve fibers responsible for causing sensations around the vagina.
This nerve damage could also lead to a tingling sensation and lack of feeling in hands, feet, legs and other parts of the body.
Polycystic ovary syndrome
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a disorder which could trigger the onset of insulin resistance which would increase blood glucose levels and eventually leads to diabetes. PCOS symptoms include weight gain, acne, infertility, depression, and irregular menstrual period.
This is another diabetes symptoms in women. Women with diabetes often experience eating disorders and loss of appetite.
Skin conditions are also noticeable symptoms of diabetes in women. The infection could either be caused by fungal or bacteria.
Diabetes could also cause various eye defects such as glaucoma and blurred vision which may lead to blindness if not diagnosed and treated early.
Foot damage is another symptom of diabetes in women which should be appropriately managed to prevent amputation. Leg wounds and other wounds around the body heal slowly when one has diabetes. When such is noticed you need to visit the doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.
